Getting to Paris…

  • Air

If you are traveling directly to Paris from the U.S., we recommend flying into Charles de Gaulle Etoile (CDG) which is located about 40 minutes from Paris city center. If you are in Europe flying to Paris, you may also see flights to Paris Orly (ORY) which is also located about 40 minutes from Paris city center.

  • Metro

If you plan to utilize the Metro frequently throughout your trip, consider purchasing a Paris Visite pass for the Metro. Paris Visite passes allow unlimited use of the transportation system in Paris: Metro, Bus, RER, Tramway, etc. for a set number of days (1, 2, 3 or 5) – Zones 1-3 include central Paris. If you plan to utilize the pass for the airports or Disneyland, you will need Zones 1-5. For more information, visit https://www.introducingparis.com/paris-visite.

  • Taxis

Taxis are still a great way to get around in Paris. From the airport, always catch your taxi from the official taxi line outside the airport. In the past, you could not hail a cab in the streets of Paris, but had to find a designated taxi stand to catch the taxi from there. However, the rules have relaxed a bit and you may be able to catch a taxi as long as you are more than 50 meters away from a taxi stand. You will be able to tell if a taxi is available by the illuminated (or green) “Taxi” sign on the roof of the car. There are typically more taxis readily available at stands near popular attractions, busy traffic areas and hotels. However, with the Rugby World Cup Quarter-finals, there may be a higher demand for taxis so please allow extra time to secure your taxi and navigate traffic. Taxis and Ubers are also difficult to secure after midnight so be sure to plan in advance.

The following are phone numbers for three major taxi companies in Paris. Additionally, you may download their apps in advance of travel.
